Police personnel from the 2003 batch came together to contribute ₹11.35 lakh to the family of a woman head constable who died in a road accident. S.P. Sumathi, 48, was a head constable at the Greater Chennai Police Control Room and lived with her family in Thirumullaivoyal. On September 11, she lost her life in a two-wheeler accident. A group of 2003-batch police officers — including Sub-Inspectors and Inspectors — formed a WhatsApp group to raise funds for her family. The officers collectively contributed ₹11.35 lakh, which was handed over to Sumathi’s family in Thirumullaivoyal in the form of Kisan Vikas Patra certificates and cash.
