The police have registered a case against 10 people for preventing a government servant from discharging his official duty in Shorapur on Wednesday.
The incident happened when Sub-Inspector Police Krishna Subedar, who is the complainant and was on duty with other staff, tried to disperse people obstructing Tahsildar H.A. Sarkawas from garlanding the statue of B.R. Ambedkar during the Constitution Day programme near Ambedkar Circle in Shorapur.
Mr. Subedar has in the complaint stated that a group of 10 people obstructed Mr. Sarkawas when he went with MLA Raja Venugopal Naik to garland the statue.
“I and other staff tried to foil the attempt by the group to make way for the Tahsildar and I suffered an injury to my arm when one among them twisted it. Later, I took treatment at a government hospital for the injury,” the complainant further stated.
A case has been registered against 10 people under Sections 189(2), 121(1), and 132 r/w 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita 2023. Further inquiry is on.
