Eleven bulls and cows were killed when a speeding lorry ploughed through a herd of cattle on Tenkasi – Madurai Highway in the early hours of Saturday.
Police said a speeding brick-laden lorry ploughed through the cattle when they were being taken for grazing via Tenkasi – Madurai Highway by Pechiyappan of Viswanathaperi near Tenkasi.
Twenty other head of cattle sustained serious injuries in the accident.
On receiving information, Vasudevanallur police rushed to the spot and picked up the lorry driver for an inquiry.
