As many as 11 persons were killed and 20 others injured in a head on collision involving two Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSCTC) buses near Nachiyarpuram at Thirupathur in Sivaganga district on Sunday (November 30, 2025) evening.

A TNSTC bus proceeding from Karaikudi to Devakoottai and another bus on its way from Devakottai to Dindigul collided head-on when they neared Vivekananda Polytechnic College, police said.

Police said 11 persons killed in the accident and more than 20 passengers who suffered minor to severe injuries were admitted to Karaikudi Government Hospital, Thirupathur GH and Sivaganga GH.

Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to the accident spot for rescuing the passengers who got stuck in the damaged buses.

Sivaganga Superintendent of Police R. Shiva Prasad also went to the spot to expedite rescue efforts.
