A total of 11,425 beneficiaries received maturity benefits under the Girl Child Protection Scheme in Coimbatore district between 2021 and 2025.

The scheme aims to ensure education, health, and future security for girl children while preventing child marriage. Under the initiative, ₹25,000 is deposited in the name of each girl child born into economically weaker families through the Tamil Nadu Power Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation. The amount, along with interest, can be withdrawn when the child turns 18, to be used for education or marriage expenses.

According to a release from the district administration, maturity benefits were disbursed to 1,463 beneficiaries in 2021–22, 3,496 in 2022–23, 2,705 in 2023–24, 2,556 in 2024–25, and 1,205 so far in 2025–26.

A total deposit of ₹12.63 crore has been made in the names of new beneficiaries.
