A total of 135 persons from Adi Dravidar and tribal communities in Coimbatore district have received ₹9.38 crore in subsidy-linked loans over the last two years under the Chief Minister’s Adi Dravidar and Tribal Economic Development scheme (CM-ARISE) implemented through the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TAHDCO).
According to officials, 79 beneficiaries were sanctioned ₹5.46 crore in 2024–25, and 56 beneficiaries were sanctioned ₹3.92 crore in 2025–26 under the CM-ARISE scheme. The scheme provides financial assistance for self-employment, offering a subsidy of 35% of the project cost or up to ₹3.5 lakh, whichever is lower.
Beneficiaries have availed themselves of loans for setting up small-scale businesses, including operation of tourist vehicles and autorickshaws, cattle and goat farming, concrete mixing units, brick-making machines, textile and grocery shops, restaurants, digital studios, and computer centres.
Recently, District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar handed over the keys of a car to Arunkumar, a beneficiary from Vellakinaru, who received assistance under the scheme to purchase the vehicle for operating it as a tourist vehicle. The vehicle, costing ₹14.09 lakh, included a TAHDCO subsidy of ₹3.5 lakh and a bank loan of ₹10.59 lakh.
