The Special Court to hear POCSO cases here on Wednesday awarded 20 years of jail for a youth, who had married a minor girl and sexually abused her in 2023.
According to prosecution, S. Selvam, 29, had taken the girl from Malli without the knowledge of her parents, and married her.
Even as the police had registered a girl missing case and were searching for her, the man had sexually abused the girl.
The girl was rescued and a case under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 was registered against the accused. The court also imposed ā¹10,000 fine on him.
