Citizens who have missed the chance for enrolling on the voters’ list for the 2025 local body elections in Kerala will get the opportunity to add their names on Tuesday (November 4) and Wednesday (November 5).
The supplementary list will be published on November 14.
Eligible citizens whose names are not included on the final voters’ list published on October 25 can make use of this opportunity, State Election Commissioner A. Shajahan said on Monday.
The elections in 2025 are being held to all local bodies in the State, except Mattannur municipality in Kannur where the five-year term will not expire this year. The public can also make use of the two-day window to apply for the exclusion of ineligible voters, making corrections and the shifting of names from one ward to another. Overseas electors also can use this opportunity to enrol on the list, Mr. Shajahan said.
Electoral Registration Officers will take the follow-up action on the applications and publish the supplementary list on November 14. Political parties will be given copies free of charge.
The decision to give the additional opportunity was taken on the basis of Sections 23 and 24 of the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act and Section 79 and 80 of the Kerala Municipalities Act dealing with the inclusion and correction of entries on the electoral rolls.
Those who have turned 18 years of age on or before January 1, 2025, can add their names to the list. Applications can be filed online on the commission’s website, https://sec.kerala.gov.in. Form 4 is for enrolment, Form 6 for making corrections, Form 7 for transposition and Form 6A for overseas electors. On filing the application, a computer-generated notice pertaining to the hearing will be issued to the applicant. They should appear in person for the hearing with the relevant documents.
The final voters’ list published by the commission on October 25 had 2,84,30,761 voters in all.
The 2025 elections will be conducted to 941 grama panchayats, 86 municipalities, six Corporations, 152 block panchayats and 14 district panchayats.
