A 22-year-old man has been detained under the Goondas Act after he repeatedly created ruckus and engaged in violent acts at railway stations.
According to the police, S.Thulasiraman, 19, of Pallipattu filed a complaint with the Government Railway Police (GRP), against a former student of Presidency College named Naveen, 22, who allegedly picked a quarrel with Thulasiraman and attempted to stab him with a knife, besides abusing him over a “route leader” issue at Tiruttani railway station on July 29.
The police arrested Naveen on October 11 and remanded him in judicial custody. The police recommended his detention under the Goondas Act, citing some of his previous crime records. Following the recommendation, the Tiruvallur Collector issued an order to detain him under the Act.
