A total of 25 programmes in 25 educational institutions spread across Hubballi-Dharwad will mark the 78th birthday celebrations of Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade on Tuesday.
Addressing presspersons in Dharwad on Monday, secretary of Janata Shikshana Samiti Ajit Prasad said that the programmes will be held under the aegis of JSS Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar Educational Society.
“A blood donation camp will be conducted wherein over 250 units of blood will be conducted and donated to SDM Hospital and Cancer Hospital in Navanagar. Sanatani, a dance-drama, will be organised at the Sannidhi Kalakshetra at noon, followed by Geeta Gayana, a rendering of devotional songs by 3,000 students. There will be an exhibition of Ph.D thesis from Heggade Research Centre, followed by the inauguration of certificate courses on cloud computing, research methodology and English language lab,” he said.
He said that the students of JSS ITI students will be donating solar equipment to Aashraya houses belonging to poor and underprivileged families at Navalur and Gowli Galli in Dharwad and a free health camp will be held for students and their parents.
A walkathon, one-month training on self-defence and karate skills for adolescent girls will also be held in the twin cities. This apart, a documentary on the life of Dr. Veerendra Heggade will be screened, he said.
Mr. Ajit Prasad said that the society will be holding a workshop on “How to erase exam fear” in 100 government schools as part of the birthday celebrations. This apart, a mega cleanliness drive will be conducted at important religious places in and around Dharwad district, he added.
