District Collector R. Brindha Devi received 265 petitions from the public at the weekly grievance redressal meeting on Monday.

The petitions included demands for old-age pension, land patta, patta transfer, community certificate, employment, bank loans, financial assistance for education and marriage, street light, and road facilities. The Collector forwarded the petitions to the officials concerned and directed them to address the issue within a stipulated time. The Collector also received petitions from 11 differently abled persons.

More than 10 differently abled persons staged a dharna at the Collectorate, alleging that through the government said differently abled persons will be nominated to local bodies, only a few people were nominated as councillors in local bodies. But they were not nominated based on their service to the group. So, the government should cancel the councillors now nominated to the local bodies and nominate eligible persons. Later, officials of the Differently Abled Welfare Department pacified them and received petitions from them.
