26,729 benefit from ‘Nalam Kakkum Stalin’ camps in Kanniyakumari, says health minister Ma. Subramanian

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma. Subramanian said that a total of 26,729 individuals have benefitted from ‘Nalam Kakkum Stalin’ camps conducted in Kanniyakumari district, while addressing the media at Puthalam in the district on Saturday.

He said that in the 561 ‘Nalam Kakkum Stalin’ camps that have been conducted across Tamil Nadu, a total of 8.82 lakh individuals have benefitted. Explaining that full body check-ups at private hospitals range from ₹15,000 to ₹20,000, he noted that the camps being organised across the State are providing free health check-ups and those requiring further treatment are referred to government hospitals.

He added that Kanniyakumari district comprises nine blocks, with three camps planned for each block and three camps for Nagercoil Corporation, a total of 30 camps. “Of the 15 camps conducted so far in the district, a total of 26,729 individuals have benefitted,” Mr. Subramanian noted.

Speaking on the disability certificates for differently abled people, he pointed out that in the 561 camps conducted so far in Tamil Nadu, 35,721 individuals were provided with disability certificates and in Kanniyakumari district 331 individuals were provided with disability certificates.

Mentioning about his inspection at a government taluk headquarters hospital in Boothapandi, he said that the doctors and nurses in the hospital said that there has been an increase in the number of deliveries from 30 per month to 60 per month, which reflects the improvement in standard of healthcare in Kanniyakumari district.

The Minister also inspected the ‘Nalam Kakkum Stalin’ camp held at L. M. P. C. Higher Secondary School in Puthalam.

Kanniyakumari Collector R. Alagumeena, Tamil Nadu Food Commission Chairperson N. Suresh Rajan, Killiyoor MLA S. Rajesh Kumar, District Health Officer Aravindh Jothi and other officials were present.
