Three former employees of a quick commerce platform who had robbed the same company’s collection agent a month ago were arrested from Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda, a police officer said on Saturday.
On October 22, Ram Avatar, 24, Sikandar, 25, and Veeru, 20, followed a Blinkit agent who had collected ₹5 lakh from various outlets, the officer said. The accused persons, who were bike-borne at the time, blocked his path and fled after snatching his bag, he added.
The police had registered an FIR under Sections 309 (robbery) and 312 (attempt to commit robbery while armed) of BNS. During investigation, the police scanned the CCTV footage and the motorcycle used in the crime was identified.
Further investigation revealed that the robbers belonged to Gonda and resided in Faridpuri on rent. A police team was sent to Uttar Pradesh to nab them. The police recovered around ₹1,37,500 from Ram Avatar and ₹1,53,000 from Sikander. Veeru had used his share to repay a loan for his motorcycle and bought a mobile phone.
The accused to robbing the collection agent, adding that a fourth person, Manoj, was involved in the crime. Manoj, who also works for the same company and is now absconding, provided them with vital information about the collection agent’s location, vehicle and the cash he would have collected that day, they said.
Efforts are on to nab the absconding person, the officer said.
