A 30-year-old woman was killed after being knocked down by a heavy truck in Manjambakkam on Sunday.
Avadi police said Sivaranjani, a resident of Manali Mathur area, was working in a private mall. After working night shift, she was returning home in her two-wheeler on the Madhavaram bypass road.
As she was waiting to cross the Manjambakkam – Puzhal junction roundabout, a tanker truck from Madhavaram area knocked her down. Sivaranjani was killed on the spot. The lorry driver fled the scene.
The Red Hills Traffic Investigation police sent the body to Government Stanley Hospital for post mortem. The police having registered a case and are searching the lorry driver.
