The Sikh community in Telangana will observe the 350th martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh guru, on a large scale between November 23 and 30, with a series of religious events, processions and mass congregations planned across the State.

The events are being organised by the organising committee of Gurudwaras in Sitaphalmandi and Secunderabad, in coordination with gurudwaras across Telangana.

The organisers said that the commemorations will also include the 350th Anointment Day of Guru Gobind Singh as the tenth Sikh Guru.

Renowned hymn singers including Bhai Anantvir Singh (USA), Bhai Gurdev Singh (Australia), Bhai Amarjeet Singh Taan and Gyani Sher Singhji (Ambala) will render shabad keertans and kathas throughout the events.

To mark the Anointment Day or Guru Gobind Singh, a mass congergation will be organised from 11 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. on November 23 at the Municipal Grounds in Chilkalguda, Sitaphalmandi.

Hundreds of Sikh devotees and members of other faiths are expected to attend. The gathering will feature the recitation of holy hymns by preachers invited from across the country. The congregation will conclude with the serving of langar, the free community kitchen open to all.

A major highlight will be the religious procession, to be taken out from Gurudwara Saheb, Secunderabad at around 4.30 p.m. on November 25. The procession will pass through Clock Tower, Sangeet X Roads, Keyes High School, Oliphant Bridge, Chilkalguda and Mylargadda before returning to Gurudwara Saheb, Sitaphalmandi.

The holy procession will include the carriage of Guru Granth Saheb, the holy scripture, in a specially decorated vehicle, accompanied by the display of Gatka, the traditional Sikh martial art form.

The commemorative events will conclude with a mass congergation on November 30 at NTR Stadium, Indira Park, from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Organising Committee members Harpal Singh and Kanchan Singh (Chairmen), Pratap Singh (President), Rajender Singh (Vice President), Ranjeet Singh (General Secretary) and Jagjeet Singh (Joint Secretary and Coordinator) said the events aim to pay tribute to the ninth Sikh guru’s sacrifice for religious freedom and human rights while spreading his message of courage, compassion and spiritual resilience.
