Home Minister G. Parameshwara held a meeting with senior police officers in Belagavi regarding security arrangements for the Winter Session at the Suvarna Soudha.
He said that around 6,000 police personnel, including officers and constables, will be on duty.
They will be requisitioned from various districts. Senior officials will camp in Belagavi and oversee all preparations.
A team of officers has been formed to manage crowds and oversee protests. They will coordinate with other department officials to ensure that the demands of most protesting organisations are settled well before the Winter Session starts.
Copies of memoranda and protest requests will be shared with departments concerned, the Minister said.
The State government has recruited nearly 900 sub-inspectors and 600 more will be appointed in the near future. There are plans to fill around 15,000 vacancies of constables in phases, he added.
He told reporters that the CID wing has taken 600-700 cases to their logical conclusions in a period of two years.
