A 61-year-old man, who was injured allegedly in a fall, died at the hospital on Saturday.
Police said A. Ansari, a resident of Pamban, went to bazaar on Friday evening. Later, his wife received information that he was lying injured near a TASMAC shop. She rushed to the spot and admitted him at Rameswaram Government Hospital. He was then referred to Ramanathapuram Government Medical College Hospital. While undergoing treatment at the hospital, he died of his injuries.
Pamban police have registered a case under section 194 (police to inquire and report on suicide) of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and further investigation is under way.
Police said that as Ansari’s wife claimed it was murder, they were also investigating in that angle.
