Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has threatened to launch a hunger strike against Belagavi Urban Development Authority for delay in clearing proposals for new layouts in the city and surrounding areas.
AAP leader Vijayakumar Patil told reporters in Belagavi on Monday that for over 20 years, no new layouts have neither been formed by the State government nor approved.
âThis is pushing up land rates and making it impossible for the middle class to build houses in the city. This cannot be tolerated,â he said.
He said that officers are lethargic, inefficient and corrupt. âWe have complained several times, but in vain. We will sit on dharna in front of BUDA office,â he said.
He suspected that some political leaders and vested interests are behind the delay.
Leaders like Shakeel Mulla, Rizwan Pasha and others were present.
