Villagers in Salem alleged leopard movement in their locality and officials from the Forest Department were monitoring the village on Tuesday (February 3, 2026).
In Varagampadi, a village situated near Udayapatti, stone quarries are in operation. On Monday night (February 2, 2026), a lorry driver who came to the quarry alleged that a leopard was found near the forest. When villages came to know about this information, they went to the spot and found some pug marks.
On information, forest officials rushed to the spot. During inspection, they found that it was not a leopard’s pug mark. However, they monitored the area using drone cameras and the forest staff were deployed in the village.
