The ‘Puthuyuga Yatra‘ led by Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan under the banner of the United Democratic Front (UDF) will reach the Kannur district border on February 7, UDF convener P.T. Mathew said on Thursday.
Addressing the media at the Kannur District Congress Committee (DCC) office, Mr. Mathew said the yatra would begin from Kasaragod on February 6 and enter Kannur district at Olavara, where UDF leaders would accord it a reception. The yatra will then proceed through Payyannur, Taliparamba, and Kannur, with reception scheduled at each centre.
There will be no yatra on Sunday, February 8. On February 9, the yatra will resume with an interaction with various sections of the public in Thalassery in the morning. This will be followed by receptions at Thalassery, Panoor, Mattannur, Sreekandapuram, and Irrity, after which the yatra will enter Mananthavady in Wayanad.
Mr. Mathew said the UDF Kannur district committee had made all arrangements to receive the yatra.
Kannur DCC president Martin George and IUML district president Abdul Kareem Chelery were present.
