‘Include comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education in election manifestos’

The Snehidhi Network for Adolescent Girls SRHR (sexual health and reproductive health) under the Centre for Women’s Development and Research has urged political leaders to include comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education in the upcoming elections manifestos.

Coming out with a charter, the network said that age-appropriate, accurate SRHR education in schools and community spaces with trained teachers, counsellors, and peer educators must be strengthened. “Adolescent girls and young women in Tamil Nadu continue to face stigma around menstruation, sexuality, and mental health. Many face sexual harassment, online abuse, and violence. Further, they also face limited access to adolescent-friendly health and counselling services which affects their decisions,” the network said in a press release.
