The tragic death of two youths from Bhadrachalam in a drowning incident in Yetapaka mandal of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh on Friday sent shockwaves among locals in Telangana’s famous temple town of Bhadrachalam.
Abhiram and Srikar, both natives of Bhadrachalam, were among the five B. Tech students of a private engineering college in Andhra Pradesh, who were washed away in Godavari river while taking bath at a sand ramp in Andhra Pradesh, nearby Bhadrachalam town.
The pilgrimage trip of a group of seven B. Tech students to Bhadrachalam turned tragic as three of them drowned and two others went missing in Godavari river near Bhadrachalam.
The bodies of Abhiram and Srikar along with another body were fished out by a rescue team at the incident site later in the day. The bodies were shifted to the mortuary at the Government Area Hospital in Bhadrachalam, police said.
The search operation continued in the Godavari for the remaining two missing students from Andhra Pradesh, when reports last came in.
