The first phase of randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units for eight Assembly constituencies in Erode district will be carried out on March 23 for the Assembly election 2026, scheduled for April 23, 2026.
A release from the District Election Officer and Collector S. Kandasamy said the exercise will be conducted through computerised randomisation using the Election Commission of India’s website under the supervision of the District Election Officer. The process will take place at 10 a.m. at the conference hall on the first floor of the Collectorate, in the presence of representatives of recognised National and State political parties. Following the randomisation, the machines will be dispatched to all Assembly constituencies from 6 a.m. on March 24.
Returning officers of the constituencies, the Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police, Assistant Returning officers, and other officials concerned will participate in the process, the release added.
