The service was introduced initially as a weekly special train between Udhna and Mangaluru Junction in April 2023.

The Railway Ministry has decided to regularise the services of Surat-Mangaluru Junction-Surat bi-weekly Special Express along with nine other special trains.
A recent notification from the Ministry said the Special Train running with numbers 09057/09058 would be renumbered as Train No. 19057/19058 from the date to be announced later.
