The risk of an expanded Iran war grew on Saturday (March 28, 2026) as Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis launched their first attacks on Israel since the start of the conflict, even as additional ‌U.S. forces reached West Asia. Speaking before the strike, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States expected to conclude military operations within weeks, although a new deployment of U.S. Marines started arriving in the region.

Aluminium Bahrain, also known as Alba, confirmed early on Sunday (March 29, 2026) that its facilities were targeted in ‌an Iranian attack a day earlier, Bahrain’s state news agency reported. Alba said ⁠two people were mildly injured in the attack, adding that it was assessing damage in the facilities.

Interceptions and drone activity were heard for hours overnight on Saturday (March 28, 2026) across Irbil, the capital of the semi-autonomous Kurdish region in northern Iraq, including drones shot down while attempting to target the U.S. consulate and nearby bases.
