
Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa announced on Friday that instead of marks, grades would be awarded from this academic year to third language papers of Hindi, Kannada, English, Arabic, Urdu, Sanskrit, Tulu, Konkani, and Marathi.

With the government announcing that instead of marks, grades will be awarded for the third language paper of the SSLC examination, questions have been raised over how skill-based subjects, which students have chosen by taking exemption from studying the third language, would be evaluated.
