Twenty nominations received on Thursday for five segments in Tirunelveli district

Twenty nominations were received on Thursday for the five Assembly segments in the district.

Two nominations for Tirunelveli, three for Ambasamudram, one for Palayamkottai, six for Nanguneri and eight for Radhapuram constituencies were submitted on Thursday. Of these, nine were male candidates and the remaining one was a female candidate, who filed her nomination for Nanguneri constituency.

So far, 35 nominations have been received – Tirunelveli and Ambasamudram – 5, Palayamkottai – 3, Nanguneri – 10 and Radhapuram – 12.

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam candidate for Nanguneri constituency R. Esakkimuthu filed his nomination on Thursday. He has declared movable assets worth ₹10.43 crore in his name, ₹2.53 crore in his wife’s name and ₹33 lakh in the name of his four children. He has immovable assets to the extent of 68.22 acre in his name and 4.08 acre in his wife’s name. He owns immovable assets worth ₹44.78 crore while his wife possesses ₹1.03 crore-worth lands, including housing plots. His four children own 1.45 crore-worth lands.

Mr. Esakkimuthu owes ₹12.01 crore to banks, financial institutions and individuals and his wife’s loan stands at ₹33.90 lakh.

His wife Petchiammal has filed her nomination as AMMK’s alternate candidate in Nanguneri constituency.

All other candidates filed their nomination on Thursday were either independents or affiliated to other smaller outfits.

In Tenkasi district, 21 nominations were received on Thursday that included 3 for Sankarankovil (Reserve), 4 for Vasudevanallur (Reserve), 3 for Kadayanallur, 6 for Tenkasi and 5 for Alangulam segments. So far, 34 nominations – 5 for Sankarankovil (Reserve), 6 for Vasudevanallur (Reserve), 7 for Kadayanallur, 9 for Tenkasi and 7 for Alangulam – have been received.
