The nominations of 131 candidates were accepted, while 71 were rejected during scrutiny for the eight Assembly constituencies in the district for the April 23 election on Tuesday (April 7, 2026).

A total of 202 nominations — including 83 by main candidates, 39 by substitutes and 80 by independents — were filed between March 30 and April 6. Scrutiny was carried out by the respective Returning Officers in the presence of candidates’ agents. Following the exercise, 131 nominations were accepted and 71 rejected.

Constituency-wise, the number of accepted nominations is as follows: Erode (East) — 24; Erode (West) — 15; Modakkurichi — 14; Perundurai — 14; Bhavani — 19; Anthiyur — 14; Gobichettipalayam — 18; and Bhavanisagar (R) — 13.

In Erode (East), the nomination of M. Vijay Balaji of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam was initially opposed by several parties citing incorrect entries and incomplete columns in the affidavit. However, it was later accepted after clarifications were submitted.

The last date for withdrawal of nominations is 3 p.m. on April 9, after which the final list of contestants will be announced.
