The directions follow complaints of flooding reported during the recent rain, when many parts of the city experienced waterlogging, and in some areas, rainwater entered buildings.

Ahead of the monsoon season, Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao has directed all city corporations to conduct inspections of roadside drainage systems and complete desilting work along major roads to prevent waterlogging during heavy rain.
The Chief Commissioner has set a deadline and directed corporations to submit road-wise reports, along with photographs and details of action taken or proposed by May 8.
