Thoothukudi Q branch police seize 1,260 kg of beedi leaves

Thoothukudi Q branch police have seized 1,260 kg of beedi leaves intended for smuggling to Sri Lanka.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted patrol at Inigo Nagar beach area early on Saturday and found a mini load van carrying 36 bundles of beedi leaves each weighing around 35 kg. However, the suspects involved in the smuggling operation fled the scene.

The Q branch police seized the beedi leaves and the vehicle used for transportation and handed them to the Customs department. Further investigation is on.
