The 2.1 km-long flyover on Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway 75, part of four-laning of B.C. Road-Addahole stretch that was opened for traffic a year-ago, undergoes pothole filling exercise by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at Kalladka in Dakshina Kannada district on Sunday.

After missing multiple deadlines, work on the ₹1,500 crore 63.61 km four-lane project of B.C. Road-Addahole stretch of Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway 75 will get fully completed by next April, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari told the Lok Sabha recently.
Responding to a starred question by Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Capt. Brijesh Chowta on July 23, Mr. Gadkari said Package 1, Addahole-Periyashanthi (15.13 km) which is complete by 98% will be commissioned by March 30. Package 2, Periyashanthi-B. C. Road (48.48 km), which is complete by 94.21%, will be commissioned by April 30, 2027, the Minister said. The MP had sought details about the completion status of the four-lane highway project being executed by the National Highways Authority of India from 2017.
1.3-km affected
Four-laning work of Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway 75 between B. C. Road and Addahole remains incomplete in about 1.3 km stretch, including at Neerakatte, due to several reasons.

Mr. Gadkari told the House that work in about 1.3 km stretch of the highway was affected and rescheduled due to various reasons, including (court) stay on construction of elephant underpass, demand for additional compensation, additional work etc. However, to facilitate proper traffic diversion and to ensure uninterrupted vehicular movement during the monsoon, the existing roads at affected locations are improved by providing bituminous resurfacing along with installation of appropriate safety signage.
Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said the service roads and one small vehicular underpass are open for traffic while one carriageway of another vehicular underpass and a flyover is temporarily closed in the four-laning of Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway 75 project between B. C. Road and Periyashanthi at Nellyadi in Dakshina Kannada district on Sunday.

To a query on the status of work in Nellyadi Town, Mr. Gadkari said one small vehicular underpass (SVUP) is complete. Another vehicular underpass (VUP) and a flyover are almost complete; however one of the two-carriageways is temporarily closed. Service roads on both the sides (2.54 km) are complete and open for traffic (concrete surface), he added.
On the 2.1 km Kalladka Flyover, the Minister said the flyover structure as well as service roads (5.99 km) are open for traffic.
Two packages
The four-laning project of NH 75 on B. C. Road-Addahole stretch, started in the year 2017 (₹821 crore), was divided into two packages after the original contractor, Larsen and Tubro foreclosed the contract following change in the scope of work. Package 1 is awarded to S. M. Autade Pvt., Ltd., at a cost of ₹400 crore and Package 2 was awarded to KNR Constructions at a cost of ₹1,100 crore, in the year 2021.
