The State government’s proposed Bharat Jodo Club is nothing but a programme aimed at promoting rowdy elements, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said at Guledgud of Bagalkot district on Sunday.

“The programme is meant to organize youth in the rural areas. But there is no clarity about funding. It involves forming 6,000 associations at the panchayat levels. The State government plans to give ₹10 lakh to those associations. It will cost a thousand crores of rupees. Where will they get the money from? I think it is aimed at promoting rowdy elements across the State. These centres will become gambling dens,” he said.

“This is what F.M. Khan did during the Chief Ministership of late R. Gundu Rao. They are going to bring that culture back in the State. They are forming associations through the Deputy Commissioners in the districts. Is this the job of the District Commissioners? This is not acceptable,” he said.
