The waterways development project proposed by the Karnataka Maritime Board at Gurupura and the Lakshadweep-dedicated jetty project proposed at Old Mangaluru Port have received environmental and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) approvals, according to a release from the Executive Engineer, Ports, and Fisheries, Udupi.
The jetty project also comprises developing associated infrastructure for cargo and cruise terminals. State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Karnataka, has cleared them, a release said.
An environmental public hearing for the projects was held by the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada. Following the process, the projects received approvals from SEIAA, the Karnataka Environment Department and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) authorities.
Copies of the environmental and CRZ clearances are available with the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, as well as on the Ministry’s website (https://parivesh.nic.in) and on the Karnataka Maritime Board’s website (https://karnatakamaritime.in/ka-projects/).
