All horses and other equine animals kept in Coimbatore district for passenger or goods transport, riding, riding schools, racing, weddings and other purposes must be registered with the Tamil Nadu Animal Welfare Board (TNAWB), District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar said.

Horse owners have been advised to register details of their animals through the official website of the TNAWB and comply with regulations relating to their welfare, health, safety and humane care.

The registration process requires owners to fulfil certain conditions, including obtaining the necessary licence from the local body, having no cases relating to cruelty or neglect of animals, permitting inspection of the animals and their shelters, and submitting documents establishing ownership and identification of the animals.

The shelters must have adequate ventilation, sanitation and safety arrangements, proper sewage and waste management facilities, sufficient drinking water, and protection from sun and rain.

For registration and guidance, the owners may approach the nearest veterinary hospital or access the official TNAWB website.
