An Armed Reserve Sub-Inspector of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) was found with a gunshot injury at the Dumbriguda police station in Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district on Monday (September 14, 2026). The police are examining the circumstances, including whether he shot himself.

According to sources, the station staff were at special prayers for Vinayaka Chavithi when they heard the shot. They reached him and found him injured.

He was taken to the Area Hospital at Araku Valley and, given the seriousness of his condition, referred to a private hospital in Visakhapatnam, where he is undergoing treatment.

Sources said that Mr. Satyanarayana had sent a message to a senior police officer shortly before the incident, referring to problems he was facing in his personal life. The senior officer is understood to have responded by asking him not to take any hasty decision and assured him that he would speak to his family and help resolve the issue. However, shortly after sending the message, the Sub-Inspector hurt himself.

Further details are yet to be ascertained.

Those in distress can call Tele-MANAS at 14416, or the police at 100.
