Forest officer caught accepting ₹30,000 bribe in Ramanagara

The Lokayukta Bengaluru South District police on Thursday trapped a Deputy Range Forest Officer while allegedly accepting a ₹30,000 bribe in Ramanagara

.The accused has been identified as Rajashekariah, Deputy Range Forest Officer, Forest Department.

According to the Lokayukta, a complaint was filed by Santhosh, a resident of Ward No. 21, Kottipura village, Ramanagara town, alleging that the officer had demanded ₹30,000 to issue a permit for cutting teak trees.

Acting on the complaint, the Lokayukta team laid a trap and caught Rajashekariah while allegedly accepting the bribe amount.

A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The accused officer has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
