Commerce department of MCC hosts global alumni meet

The Department of Commerce (Aided) of Madras Christian College hosted its Global Alumni Meet on Saturday.

The event commenced with a thanksgiving service at the Bishop Heber Chapel, followed by a tree-planting ceremony at the new commerce building. Principal P. Wilson addressed the gathering during the inaugural ceremony, according to a press release.

Arun Mammen, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of MRF Limited, was the guest of honour. He urged alumni to act as a conduit between the corporate sector and academic institutions. Head of the Department Vijayakumari Joseph acknowledged the contributions of founders and senior professors.

A panel discussion involving alumni, faculty members, and students followed the inauguration. Alumni Matthew proposed the establishment of the Mr. Swaminathan Endowment Fund, and Rakesh Stanley reminisced about his college days. The meet concluded with cultural events and the lighting of candles by participants.
