Workshop for journalists on AI in Shivamogga

A workshop for journalists on Artificial Intelligence was held in Shivamogga on Sunday.AI practitioner Pawan Kumar conducted the session for 30 journalists representing print, digital and electronic media.

Mr. Kumar gave a brief overview of the history of AI over the last seven decades and the important milestones in its development. He then made a presentation on how journalists could use AI tools to improve the quality of their content, fact-check, conduct research, and present facts as infographics. He also stressed the need to use AI tools judiciously, given their environmental impact, as data centres consume huge amounts of energy and water.

The workshop was jointly organised by Rotary Shivamogga and the Press Trust of Shivamogga. N. Gopinath, Lakshmi Gopinath and Janardana Pai of Rotary Shivamogga; Press Trust president N. Manjunath; and R. Maruthi, Assistant Director, Department of Information and Public Relations, were present.
