CSK names Zaheer Khan as head coach for IPL 2027

Chennai Super Kings has appointed former India pacer Zaheer Khan as its new head coach for IPL 2027. Zaheer replaces Stephen Fleming, who was coach from 2009 to 2025.

The former New Zealand skipper was removed from the job earlier this year after three poor years for the five-time champion, in which it failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Interestingly, the announcement hints that Zaheer will be on a one-year contract. With the mega auction set to take place before 2028, it remains to be seen if this is a short-term arrangement.

Zaheer has previously been part of the coaching set-up with Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giant.
