Farmer surrenders after killing wife in Sathyamangalam

A 64-year-old farmer allegedly beat his wife to death with a wooden log following a quarrel over agricultural land at Kanjanayakkanur near Sathyamangalam on Tuesday (September 22, 2026).

The deceased was identified as Palaniammal (55). She and her husband, Rajendran, had two daughters and a son. According to the police, Palaniammal had been insisting that Rajendran transfer the four-and-a-half acres of agricultural land owned by him in her name. The couple reportedly quarrelled over the issue on Tuesday morning. During the quarrel, Rajendran allegedly attacked Palaniammal with a wooden log, causing her death. He fled from the spot. On learning that his wife had died, Rajendran surrendered at the Sathyamangalam police station. The police arrested him and are conducting an inquiry.
