The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police seized cash and liquor bottles during the surprise check conducted in the Melapalayam Zone of Tirunelveli Corporation on Tuesday.
Led by Inspector Robin Gnanasingh, the DVAC Wing police raided the Melapalayam Zone office of Tirunelveli Corporation on Tuesday.
After reportedly seizing ₹9,000 from three persons, the police confiscated liquor bottles from the office of the Assistant Commissioner.
The police also found that surveyor Sundararaj had allegedly received over ₹1 lakh in his account from various individuals in the past four months through online transaction.
In a similar raid conducted in the Kayalpattinam municipality in Thoothukudi district, the police seized unaccounted cash of ₹7,500 from the office of the Commissioner. The police have also found that the official had received ₹20.06 lakh from various individuals through online transaction.
