The Special Court for POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Cases has awarded 20-year imprisonment to an old man for sexually abusing a minor girl.
According to prosecution, K. Muthaiah, 63, of Seythunganallur in the district sexually abused a 11-year-old girl in 2021 and was arrested by the Srivaikundam All Women Police under the POCSO Act.
Special Court Magistrate for POCSO Cases Murugan awarded 20 years imprisonment to Muthaiah on Tuesday and slapped a fine of ₹1.02 lakh on him.
The Court also directed the Tamil Nadu Government to give a compensation of ₹3 lakh to the victim.
