The Tamil Nadu police checked on 9,329 history-sheeters during a two-day special drive against anti-social elements across the State. A total of 260 of them have been remanded in judicial custody.
The special drive was conducted on September 21 and September 22 on the instructions of Director-General of Police and Head of Police Force Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, as part of preventive and proactive policing measures to maintain law and order.
The police teams intensified surveillance and conducted checks on history-sheet rowdies, habitual offenders, and absconding suspects in criminal cases.
During the two-day operation, the police executed 560 non-bailable warrants. Efforts are under way to trace other absconding accused and execute the remaining pending warrants.
