The Greater Chennai Traffic Police have extended the operation of its special e-challan call centres until October 15, 2026, to help motorists check and settle pending traffic violation fines.
The call centres, which were initially scheduled to function from September 21 to September 30, will now operate daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The extension follows requests from the public, the police said.
The centres will help motorists regarding pending e-challans registered against them or their vehicles through systems including Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and Traffic Regulation Observed Zone.Â
Staff at the centres will also send bulk SMS alerts and provide details about pending challans, applicable fines, and payment procedures to motorists making enquiries in person or over the phone.
Special arrangements have also been made at the following centres to facilitate payment of fines:
East: ICF Annexure Police Booth, K2 Ayanavaram; Music Academy Police Booth, E2 Royapettah; Greenways Junction Police Booth, E4 Abiramapuram; Tower Clock Junction Police Booth, D2 Anna Salai.
West: Anna Nagar Roundana; Anna Arch Traffic Police Booth; Maduravoyal Traffic Police Station campus; Madhavaram Traffic Police Station at Madhavaram Roundana.
North: Flower Bazaar Call Centre at C2 Elephant Gate Police Station; Washermenpet Call Centre at H5 New Washermenpet Police Station; Pulianthope Call Centre at K1 Sembium Police Station.
South: R1 Mambalam Police Station campus; J2 Adyar Police Station campus; Traffic Mount Sub-Division campus under Kathipara flyover.
Headquarters: ITMS Headquarters, Office of the Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai Police, Vepery.
Motorists can also check their pending e-challans through the Parivahan e-Challan portal or the NextGen e-Challan platform.
The outstanding fines can be paid online through the e-Challan portal or NextGen e-Challan, through the Paytm app, at post offices and Tamil Nadu e-Sevai centres. Drunken-driving cases can be settled through the court.
The traffic police has urged motorists to use the extended facility to check and clear their pending challans.
