Trek organised to promote eco-tourism at Horsley Hills

Tourism officials in Annamayya district organised an adventure and trekking programme at Horsley Hills on Friday (September 25, 2026) as part of World Tourism Day celebrations to be held on September 27.

District Tourism Officer M. Nagabhushanam told the media that the trek was conducted from Srivari Padalu to Galibanda Eco Park, which covered forest trails and offered panoramic views of the Eastern Ghats. Around 80 students, faculty members, and nature lovers from various colleges in Madanapalle participated in the event.

The official said that the natural beauty, biodiversity, and cool climate of the hill station contributed to giving Horsley Hills the tag “Ooty of Andhra Pradesh.”

Mr. Nagabhushanam said the objective was to inculcate love for nature among youth, create awareness about the importance of tourism and popularise local destinations. “Such activities would help promote eco-tourism and adventure tourism in the district. We briefed the students about the geological significance of Horsley Hills, its flora and fauna, and conservation needs,” he said, adding that on World Tourism Day, the department would be organising various programmes across prominent tourist places in the district.
