The Visakhapatnam City Police arrested 102 persons for their allegedly involvement in 74 different property offence cases in August 2026. The police teams also recovered ₹53.12 lakh worth property from the offenders.
Addressing a press conference at the police conference hall on Friday, Commissioner of Police, Shankabratha Bagchi said that in August, as many as 97 property offences were reported across various parts of the city. Special teams formed under the guidance of the senior police officials, detected 74 cases and arrested 102 individuals.
The recovered property included 796 grams of gold, 9500 grams of silver, ₹14.75 lakh worth cash, and 25 motorcycles.
The police have also recovered 405 missing mobiles worth ₹60.75 lakh.
Out of the 74 detected cases, five cases are of robbery, one case of House Breaking (HB) by day, seven cases of HBs by night, five cases of snatchings, 24 cases of motorcycle thefts, and other property offences.
Mr Bagchi said that as part of preventive measures, during the month of August, 661 CCTV cameras were installed at various places in the city. As many as 472 crime awareness meetings were conducted by the officers. He said that special patrolling is being arranged in crime prone areas during the day and at night. Drone beats continue in isolated areas for surveillance over criminals and illegal activities, he said.
During the programme, the CP and other crime wing officials handed over the recovered property to their rightful owners.
