VHP opposes issuance of notice to RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has opposed issuance of notice to RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat by the Bantwal Rural police asking him to cooperate in his inquiry by assistant investigation officer in connection with murder of Abdul Rehman on May 27, 2025.

In the notice dated September 22, Police Sub Inspector P. Kalimar asked Mr. Bhat to cooperate with inquiry on September 26 at his house in Kalladka to clarify about some of the circumstances related to the murder.

Talking to reporters on Friday, VHP Dakshina Karnataka Pranta Karyadarshi Sharan Pumpwell said police have filed chargesheet in the murder case against 22 accused persons that included several Bajrang Dal activists. Sending notice to Mr. Bhat for inquiry in the case was an act by the government of using police to harass the right-wing leader. There was no link between the arrested persons and the murder, but yet Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act has been invoked against the accused persons. Issuing notice to Mr. Bhat was continuation of action to harass right-wing leaders. If the government does not stop harassing right-wing activists and leaders, it will pay a heavy price, he said.

Protest march

Mr. Pumpwell said the VHP has called for ‘B.C. Road Chalo’ protest march on Monday to condemn the action of Dakshina Kananada Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan of invoking Goonda Act on September 14 against six murder accused. It was invoked a day before these six accused and two other murder accused were ordered by Special KCOCA Court in Mysuru for release on bail on September 15. The protest march will demand withdrawal of Goonda Act against the six accused persons, Mr. Pumpwell said.
