A cleanliness drive was inaugurated on Saturday by Dindigul Collector Durgamoorthi as part of the World Tourism Day celebrations organised by the Tourism Department.
The Collector participated in the cleanliness drive conducted at the foothills of the Dindigul Rock Fort. Over 100 college students participated in the programme.
The official theme of World Tourism Day 2026 is Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism. The Dindigul district administration has also planned to conduct various programmes ahead of World Tourism Day which is observed on September 27.
A similar cleanliness drive will be conducted in Kodaikanal. The special programmes, include awareness rallies, photography contests and other competitions for college students.
The Collector urged the public to extend their full cooperation to the cleanliness drives undertaken by the Dindigul district administration and turn the district into a āclean districtā. The contributions of everyone, including the locals and the tourists were essential, she said.
