Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the State government is developing rural infrastructure, including tourism facilities, to create employment and economic opportunities for local youth.
He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for tourism facilities at Chinthakani lake in Chinthakani mandal of Khammam district at an estimated cost of ₹7.9 crore on Sunday.
He later participated in several development programmes, including the inauguration of various road works in the mandal.
Addressing an ‘Atmeeya Sammelanam’ of local Congress booth-level agents (BLAs), Mr. Vikramarka said the BLAs had a responsibility to ensure that welfare schemes reached every household and that people benefitted from good governance.
Describing the fine rice scheme as an exemplary ‘Telangana Model’, he said nearly 1.06 crore families were being provided six kg of fine rice a month free of cost across the State.
He said the government was promoting women’s financial empowerment through initiatives such as free bus travel and the revival of the DWCRA loan system, with a target of providing ₹1 lakh crore in loans.
He highlighted welfare measures including Gruha Jyothi, Rajiv Aarogyasri, the free breakfast scheme for government school students and farmers’ loan waiver, besides ₹12,000 per acre in investment assistance.
He also outlined development initiatives, including ongoing construction of Young India Integrated Residential Schools in every Assembly constituency with international standards.
Later, the Deputy Chief minister conducted a surprise inspection of the ongoing construction of the 50-bed Community Health Centre (CHC) at Mudigonda.
