Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday laid the foundation stone for 53 development projects worth ₹214.12 crore in unauthorised colonies across five Assembly constituencies, according to a release from the CM’s office. The initiative, launched as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, is expected to provide permanent relief from waterlogging and dilapidated roads to 1.75 lakh residents once completed.
The projects will be undertaken in five Assembly seats of Kirari, Bawana, Mundka, Narela, and Nangloi Jat.
Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is a month-long nationwide campaign running from September 17 to October 17, 2026, launched to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service.
‘Pending for years’
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Gupta said the Delhi government’s objective is to strengthen basic civic amenities in parts of the city that have long faced problems related to basic infrastructure.
“Roads, drains, sewerage, and drainage are basic rights of every citizen. The government is ensuring that the benefits of development reach every lane and every area of Delhi,” Ms. Gupta said, adding that the government aims to find permanent solutions to problems that have remained pending for years.
According to the official statement, under the 53 development projects, 1,062 roads and lanes in 27 unauthorised colonies will be upgraded. The works include the development of around 89.82 km of road network and 147.69 km of drainage network to improve local connectivity and strengthen drainage infrastructure.
The Kirari Assembly constituency accounts for the largest share of the development works, with 27 projects in 14 unauthorised colonies worth ₹105.51 crore. Meanwhile, nine works worth ₹38.83 crore will be undertaken in Bawana, five works worth ₹22.05 crore in Mundka, four works worth ₹14.48 crore in Narela, and eight projects worth ₹33.25 crore in Nangloi Jat.
MP Yogendra Chandolia, along with Cabinet Ministers Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, and Ravindra Indraj Singh, were among those present at the event.
